For the upcoming polls to the 19-member Aizawl Municipal Corporation (AMC), Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) released their party manifesto on Wednesday.
The manifesto gives assurance of a transparent government, better waste management and setting up of a vegetable supply chain centre in Aizawl.
The manifesto was released by ZPM leader Lalduhoma in a function at the party office. Lalduhoma said the nearing AMC polls will be a prediction and precursor of the upcoming bypoll to the Serchhip seat due this year and state assembly election to be held in 2023.
Addressing to the party workers in Aizawl, the MLA said, “If we want the present chief minister to discontinue holding his office in the next assembly term, we have to defeat the ruling Mizo National Front (MNF) in the coming municipal polls and if we want people’s government we must vote the ZPM to power”.
“Annual financial statements of development funds and expenditure would be introduced to bring transparency on usage of development funds and implementation of projects,” he said.
The seven-point manifestos mentioned of a transparent property tax system.
For equal distribution of development Municipal Ward Committee will be set up along with vegetable supply chain centre to facilitate market for farmers and to control price hike and also set up centre for innovations and training.
Social security, cleanliness of Aizawl city and revised parking fee collection system within the municipal area will be prioritize.
The AMC poll will be among the ruling MNF, ZPM and Congress.
The AMC was established in 2010 under the Mizoram Municipalities Act, 2007. There are 19 seats in the municipality, of which 6 are reserved for women.
