Mizoram Governor Dr Hari Babu Kambhampati has convened a special session of the state legislature to discuss state budget, which will begin on February 22, according to an assembly official.
According to the official, the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) meeting, which was chaired by Speaker Lalrinliana Sailo, has set a provisional calendar for the budget session, which will last until March 10.
On the first day of the session, Kambhampati will deliver his customary address, while chief minister Zoramthanga, who also holds the finance portfolio, will present the state annual budget for fiscal 2021-2022 on February 24.
He also stated that the chief minister would present a supplementary demand for the years 2021-2022.
The assembly secretariat has received four papers and a private member’s bill to be laid during the session, according to the official.
Meanwhile, on May 10, the state government will commemorate the state assembly’s 50th anniversary (golden jubilee).
On Tuesday, the organising committee for the proposed Jubilee celebration met under the leadership of its chairman, Lalrinliana Sailo, to assess the situation.
Home minister Lalchamliana, parliamentary affairs minister TJ Lalnuntluanga, first Mizoram assembly speaker Dr H Thansanga, and former speaker Dr Kenneth Chawngliana were among those in attendance at the meeting.
