On October 21, the District Level Implementation Committee organised a meeting for registration and mobilizing the unorganized workers in respective districts for enrolment of workers on eShram portal was held on Thursday at DC’s Conference Hall, Kohima.
According to a DIPR report, while chairing the meeting, Deputy commissioner Kohima, Gregory Thejawelie stated that the Ministry of Labour & Employment is continuously working on improving the life and dignity of the Labour Force of the country by protecting and safeguarding the interest of workers, promoting welfare and providing social security to the labour force both in organized and unorganized sectors.
Adding that the ministry advanced eShram portal (www.eShram.gov.in) which could be seeded with Aadhaar, includes name, occupation, addresses, education, ability types, own circle of relatives information etc. for maximum cognizance in their employability and volume the gain of the social safety schemes to them that’s the primary ever country wide database of unrecognised workers.
Additional Secretary, Labour and Employment, Anthony Ngully informed that any worker who has been working in the unrecognized sector and aged between 16 to 59 years, would be eligible to register on the eShram portal. This will include migrant workers, gig workers, platform workers, agricultural workers, MGNREGA workers, fishermen, milkmen, ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers, street vendors, domestic workers, rickshaw pullers and other workers engaged in other similar occupations.
Highlighting the advantages of registration on eShram portal, assistant labour commissioner, Vikeluto Naki stated that eShram portal could be a centralised database of unrecognised people seeded with Aadhaar. After registering she or he could get an unintentional coverage cowl of two lacks beneath PMSBY.
He informed that the following documents are required for registration in eShram portal: Aadhaar number; mobile number (Aadhaar linked preferred), Bank Account with IFSC by self-registration with Adhaar linked mobile number or by visiting nearest CSC and State Seva Kendras (SSKs) with biometrics.
Members of the executive committee discussed various issues regarding registration, registration and mobilization programs and also agreed to organize outreach programs across the subdivision with village officials in Kohima district.
