Nagaland : 58th Statehood Day Celebrations

At Raj Bhavan in Kohima, Nagaland celebrated its 58th statehood Day on Tuesday.

Plush tributes were paid to the Founding Fathers of Nagaland – the leaders of the Naga Peoples’ Convention (NPC) and the martyrs who supported in the creation of Nagaland as the 16th state of the Union of India.

A bust of NPC president Dr Imkongliba Ao, made by professional sculptor Sorei Keishing was also uncovered to grace the occasion.

Nagaland Governor R.N Ravi felicitated the family members of the NPC leaders.

The lone surviving leader of the Naga Peoples’ Convention, S.C Jamir, who is a Padma Bhushan awardee was also present at the event. He recalled the years of struggle when under the leadership of Dr Imkongliba Ao, the Naga leaders moved the people under tiring situations.
