Use of Flex banners, boards and posters by departments, institutions and agencies during functions or programmes has been banned by the Nagaland Government.
Ministry of Environment and Forest and Climate Change said, “Flex banners/ boards/ posters comprise Poly-Vinyl-Chlorides (PVC), a plastic polymer, which is a non-biodegradable material. If we burn it, it releases harmful toxins and gets bio-accumulated in the food chain of the ecosystem causing serious hazards to human health and the environment”.
Instead, eco-friendly materials like lightweight textile fabrics, cloth banners, wrinkle-resistant wrap knit and particle are encouraged to be used to reduce plastic pollution in the State.
