A bust of Imkongliba Ao, the president of the Naga People’s Convention (NPC) will be disclosed on December 1 by Nagaland Governor, R.N. Ravi in the Raj Bhawan in Kohima.
Ao had played a crucial role in the development of Nagaland as the sixteenth state of the country.
As a symbol of tribute to the leader and countless Nagas for their uncountable sacrifices during the movement for statehood, the bust has been installed in the Raj Bhawan.
The NPC which was led by Ao, united the Naga people and discussions were held with the Union government in a democratic manner after violence in the state.
At last an agreement was signed between NPC leaders and the union government, creating the path of formation of a separate state of Nagaland on December 1, 1963
During the occasion, Nagaland chief minister, Neiphiu Rio will also be present.
