Nagaland : Call to Central Government for Naga issue resolvement

The Central government was called upon by the Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and opposition leader TR Zeliang to resolve the decade long Naga political issue.

A joint statement has been issued by both Rio and Zeliang for peace and unity.

The Centre and the Naga organizations participating in the peace talks were requested to “arrive at an early solution”, to bring prosperity to the people of the region, said the statement issued on Friday.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah was met by both the leaders in Delhi on October 20.

A consultative meeting was called upon by the state government with representatives of all the civil society organizations, political parties, ex-parliamentarians and public leaders.

The determination of the resolutions adopted during the October 15 consultative meeting was acknowledged by the opposition NPF and is “committed to actively support all initiatives towards resolution of the Naga issue”, the joint statement said.

The NPF party resolution adopted in a meeting under the banner of the Political Affairs Mission, on September 14 was acclaimed by the Nagaland government.
