Nagaland : MVC restricts logging vehicle movement

An indefinite ban has been imposed on all timber and logging vehicles entering or exiting through the village by the Mhainamtsi Village Council (MVC) with immediate effect.

After a truck carrying logs ran over a person on December 10 at the village, the act of ban came right after.

The Victim’s leg had to be amputated because of the incident, informed the MVC.

The ban would would not be lifted unless the culprit is “booked and punished.”, said a press release from the MVC

Arrest of the culprit was demanded in a meeting held with the Peren district administration by the MVC on December 14.

The MVC has asked the public to bear with the council’s order.

“Violators shall face/bear the responsibilities at his/her own risk in case of any untoward incident” it cautioned.
