Nagaland: Parts of Kohima, Dimapur to be containment zones after May 5

Amid a rapid surge of COVID-19 cases in Nagaland, the State government has declared most of the areas in Kohima and Dimapur as containment zone for seven days with effect from 7:00 pm on May 5 onwards till May 12. Other areas across the state will continue to follow the lockdown measures notified by the state earlier on April 29.

The order issued by Nagaland Chief Secretary J Alam IAS, said that there is a further increase in the number of persons infected by COVID-19 and an increase in the positivity rate during the past week. Therefore, in the interest of public health and safety, and to contain and prevent the spread of COVID-19, the measures were imposed.

The order directed the Administrative Heads of Departments, Heads of Offices to form a core group of staffs in their respective departments to attend to urgent and essential matters, including court cases who shall attend office. All other Government employees are directed to be available on call.

All permitted activities are to be carried out in strict compliance with the COVID appropriate behaviour. The strict enforcement of these restrictions is to be ensured by the respective District Task Forces (DTF) of Nagaland and strict checking is to be done by the DTF at the district entry points to prevent non essential movement of persons.
