Sikkim: National Commission for Minorities member calls on CM

Rinchen Lhamo, a member of the Government of India’s National Commission for Minorities, paid a visit to Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang at his official residence in Mintokgang today.

The Chief Minister assured the member that all citizens of the state are treated fairly, and that every effort is made to ensure that developmental initiatives reach all segments of the population. He went on to say that the state government is committed to addressing all of the minority communities’ concerns in the state.

During her visit to Sikkim, the visiting delegate informed the Chief Minister that she met with district-level officers and discussed various schemes designed and developed for minorities. She also mentioned that a state-level meeting was held with the Government of Sikkim’s Department of Social Justice and Welfare.

Member Lhamo expressed her gratitude to the Chief Minister and the Sikkim government for their assistance. S.D. Dhakal, Secretary to the CM, Tshewang Gyachho, Secretary to the Social Justice and Welfare Department, and other officials were in attendance.
