COVID-19: Sikkim records new 121 COVID positive cases, active tally is 798

Sikkim hit a new coronavirus peak with 121 new Covid cases detected from the 566 samples tested. The State’s active Covid tally has shot up to 798, as per the health department.

East Sikkim continues to max the corona curve with 97 infections from the Friday results. South district contributed 14 cases while 10 cases are from samples tested in west district. In east district, Gangtok and nearby areas up to Ranipool is the worst affected having around 50 Covid positive cases. Among them, seven Covid positive persons are unreachable or have switched off their phones.

Two persons who were tested from the emergency ward of the hospital here are among the untraceable Covid positive cases. They are Roshan Subba and Yuyval Lepcha.

The other cases in East Sikkim are three each from Singtam and Pakyong subdivision and two cases each from Upper Aho, Bageykhola, Sirwani, Central Pendam and NHPC Singtam. Nine cases are from Rangpo area. One case each was reported from Nandok, Aritar, Rakdong and other areas of east district.
