Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang-Golay speaks about the potential of Animal Husbandry and Agriculture on Krishi Avam Pashu Dhan Mela 2020 on his official social media account.
He said, “Sikkim possesses huge potential in terms of Animal Husbandry and Agriculture and it has been our policy and priority to establish our farmers and producers”. He was pleased to join the Minister Shri L.N Sharma at the ‘Krishi Avam Pashu Dhan Mela 2020’ organized by Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Service Department, Government of Sikkim at Rangpo, East Sikkim today.
Speaking on the occasion he informed them about the Government’s priority to help the economically weaker section of the society and have been deliberating on finding ways to improve it. During the last few months, they were able to implement several schemes, especially in the field of agriculture, horticulture and animal husbandry.
He wrote, “I informed the gathering about the implementation of the scheme, particularly to promote and motivate our farmers and producers and transferred the incentives directly to them. This field is one of the lucrative and vital professions and can be a great source of employment. So to promote this among our younger generations, I apprised the public about adopting modern equipment and technologies. Similarly, I added that we look forward to having one model farm in each district for people to visit for learning and training purposes.”
“I encouraged the public to enquire and be aware of schemes both at the Centre and the State level, also urging the farmers and producers to be proactive and conscious to make the most of all the schemes aimed at supporting them. Likewise, I asked the department to find methods to educate and inform the farmers and producers regarding the same.”
“We need to move towards the goal of ‘Athmanirbhar Bharat’ and try to be self-sufficient as much as possible. Recent incentives handed out to the dairy farmers have had a positive impact and we will provide incentives for other products to encourage and promote this among the people. We want the farmers in our state to prosper and will extend all support and co-operation to those hard-working individuals.”
“I also spoke in brief about schemes like the Mukhya Mantri Jeewan Raksha Kosh and Skilled Youth Start-up Schemes, Sikkim Film Policy and others aimed towards the welfare of our people. Once again, I appealed to everyone to find out about these schemes and utilize it.”
“I was also pleased to hand out awards for the essay competition and to few of our COVID warriors for their contribution for which I extend my gratitude towards their service. It was encouraging to see people involved in agriculture, horticulture and animal husbandry during my visit to several stalls.”
“Earlier today, I was also delighted to inaugurate the Check Post Office under the Transport Department at Rangpo, East Sikkim which was long overdue”, he concluded.
