Meeting for Lachen-Mangan and Dzongu constituencies at Mangan was held by the SKM Nari Morcha on Wednesday.

Equal respect and responsibility has been given to women in the development and administration of Sikkim, SKM Dzongu in-charge Chungkipu Lepcha said addressing the gathering. Plans for transformation of Dzongu constituency were shared along with the development of North Sikkim being the main focus, she added.

Lepcha said, the previous SDF government ignored the land compensation mater of the Mantam residents. The land compensation dispute will be soon resolved by the SKM government along with compensation disbursed among the affected families, she said. Proposal for a hostel in Gangtok was also shared for people visiting the state capital from Dzongu.

For the assessment of complaints of Sikkimese women at the grassroots level, meetings in every constituency are being held by the Nari Morcha, said SKM Nari Morcha president Kala Rai. Before elections, the SDF part used to hold meetings for women only, she said. The Sikkimese women were urged to take benefit from the various schemes of the SKM government.

Women of Sikkim were used as vote banks only by the previous SDF government, said Zoom-Salghari MLA Sunita Gazmer. Today, every woman in Sikkim is given an equal opportunity under the SKM government, she said.

Additional Political Secretary (North) Tshering Wangyal Bhutia, Khadi & Village Industries chairperson Chung Chung Bhutia and others, attended the meeting.
