Eight sports academies/sports clubs of Sikkim and twenty four sports associations received Rs. 59 lakhs as grants-in-aid by the State Cabinet.
The cabinet meeting was held at Tashiling Secretariat on December 9.
For sound system facilities to several NGOs in the State, the cabinet sanctioned an amount of Rs. 98.87 lakhs.
Rs. 2.69 crore was approved for procurement of shoes and socks for school students and Rs. 6.56 crore was approved for procurement of textbooks, exercise books and school uniforms for the 2021 academic session by the Cabinet.
Approval for the Sikkim State Education Service (SSES) cadre was also given with facilities for bipolar distribution of posts among officers from schools heads and from the AEOs at the ratio of 60:40. The 60% quota reserved for the officers with entry level from school head is further divided in the ratio of 50:50 for promotion and lateral entry from the qualified school heads. It is also proposed to increase 18% of cadre strength i.e. 30 additional posts at different level.
For land acquisition and re-verification of site for the alternative highway from Melli to Singtam, Rs. 24.99 lakhs was sanctioned.
