In the India Today e-State of the States Conclave 2020, Sikkim was declared as the best performing small state in two categories – “cleanliness” and “most improved small state in governance”.
The conclave was virtually held on 5th of December.
India Today’s annual “The State of States” study is done to find out which Indian state provides its citizens the best opportunities in business environment and quality of life.
The state’s performance is tracked over time and the changes are recorded from last five years.
The states are judged based on categories like economy, agriculture, education, health care, infrastructure, inclusive development, law and order, governance, entrepreneurship, environment and cleanliness.
Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang praised by saying that it would have not been possible without the involvement, participation, sense of ownership and efforts by the Sikkimese gentry.
The Minister said, “Their single-minded effort has made the state a pinnacle in cleanliness and tourism”.
