Sikkimese Footballer Bikash Jairu completed 50 matches in ISL

Bikash Jairu, the Sikkimese footballer has completed 50 matches in Indian Super League (ISL), the nation’s foremost professional football league.

Jairu reached the milestone of 50 ISL matches at Margao, Goa. The game ended with Robbie Fowler’s men losing 1-2 to the Northeastern side leaving SC East Bengal in the 9th position. The 30 year old left winger hails from Geyzing in West Sikkim wants to build on the lessons learnt from his 7th ISL campaign and develop himself with hard work.

“I am happy with the achievement of 50 ISL appearances, the first from Sikkim to do so. I will continue to work hard and look forward to future. There are always ups and downs in football,” said Jairu.

Jairu has played four matches for the Kolkata club so far. He had debuted  in the second season of ISL when Pune City FC took him. In 2016, Jairu joined ATK but could not play due to injuries.

The Sikkimese footballer surged to prominence with Jamshedpur FC. He became the first Sikkimese footballer to score an ISL goal during his stint with Jamshedpur FC.
