The National Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN) claims violation of cease fire rules by Assam rifles

The NSCN-IM expressed its discontentment over the setting up of the Assam Rifles (AR) outpost at Dimapur to Hebron road, where its headquarters is located, alleging that this is a blatant violation of the ceasefire agreement.

The group said that,’The Indian armed forces personnel (Assam Rifles) are deliberately violating the Cease Fire Ground Rules (CFGRs) agreed between the National Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN) and Government of India not to set up any camp at the Dimapur-Hebron road.’

The NSCN-IM claimed that it has been almost two years since the AR personnel began stationing at Doyapur which is situated on the way to the group’s Council Headquarters at Hebron.

It said that the AR, under the direction of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), has been keeping a sharp eye on NSCN-IM members moving in and out of its camp through the outpost.

NSCN-IM alleged that the AR personnel armed with guns and registry, and assisted by the installed CCTV cameras and smart-phones fitted on their chests, stopped and conducted checks on every passing vehicle, which according to them is a deliberate act of harassment meted to commuters in the name of ‘law and order’.

It alleged that the AR has become bolder since last year and has intensified the harassment upon commuters with much vigour in their attempt to extract information about the movements and identities of NSCN-IM members and their well-wishers.

It raised concern saying that checking and frisking by AR personnel are done without following COVID-19 safety measures/SOPs.

With the progress of the Indo-Naga peace talks, the NSCN-IM said that it sees no logic in setting up an outpost of the AR at Doyapur to harass the people.
