Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has announced that tourist circuit trains will be introduced in the northeast, covering all of the region’s major attractions.
Vaishnaw, who visited Guwahati on Tuesday, also said that a study to improve rail connectivity in the northeastern states was underway, according to a release from the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR).
The Railways have been working to promote the northeast’s rich heritage and beautiful culture to the rest of the world, according to Vaishnaw.
He mentioned that five Vistadome services have already been implemented with the goal of boosting tourism in the area.
He went on to say that studies are being carried out to establish strategic railway lines to highlight the beauty of the northeast, as well as to start more passenger, intercity, and Jan Shatabdi Express-style trains.
According to the press release, the railway minister also stated that the electrification of railway tracks has been completed up to Guwahati, with more work in progress.
Ashwini Vaishnaw insisted that there was no shortage of funds, claiming that Rs 7,000 crore had been set aside this year for the northeast’s ongoing railway projects.
Ashwini Vaishnaw, who also oversees communications, electronics, and information technology, stated that efforts are underway to provide high-speed Internet throughout the region.
“Through BSNL, an out-of-the-box experiment for 10 GB internet connectivity was conducted from Coxbazar international landing station (Bangladesh) to Agartala. “The experiment has been a huge success, and we’re going to expand it even more,” he said.
The Railway minister stated that efforts are underway to provide digital telecom connectivity to every village in the northeast.
“A scientific survey and GIS mapping are underway in every village to identify locations for telecom connectivity,” he added. (PTI)
