A 19-year-old Tripura student has been arrested for possessing 2.3 kg of Ganja.
According to police, the student was apprehended near the Balasundari Temple in the Premnagar area, while attempting to hand over the consignment to a buyer, after receiving a tip.
Moreover, the student was identified as Fenrang Debvarma.
Fenrang Debvarma is a student at a college in Dehradun’s Selaqui area. He is from Borkhatal village in the West Tripura district.
During interrogation, the 19-year-old student admitted that he had acquired the consignment of 2.3 kg of Ganja through contact in Tripura.
Meanwhile, the Dehradun Police Department is now attempting to uncover the entire network of Ganja smuggling from Tripura to Uttarakhand.
During the last few years, some pockets in Tripura, especially in the Sepaijala district, have emerged as the hub of Ganja production, and several networks of smugglers are now active in the area and are transshipping consignments to far-flung areas across India.
