The Tripura Board of Secondary Education (TBSE) has announced on Saturday the postponement of the Class 10 and Class 12 board exams until further notice. The decision has been taken in view of a sudden surge in the number of Coronavirus cases across the state.
The board examinations for 2021 were originally scheduled to start from May 18 and May 19 for the students of Class 12 and 10, respectively.
TBSE president Dr Bhabatosh Saha said that the decision to postpone the exams was taken in a meeting of the Examination Committee of the Board on Saturday.
Saha stated that, ‘Looking at the situation of COVID-19 pandemic all over the country as well as in Tripura and also taking into account the safety and health of the students, it will not be judicious to hold the ensuing Higher Secondary and Madhyamik examinations from May 18 and 19, respectively’.
The examination committee has recommended postponement of exams for the time being and proposed to hold the examinations when the situation is conducive, giving two weeks of notice. Members advice all candidates to utilise this time to prepare more competently, later Saha added.
Earlier, the Tripura government had announced suspension of physical attendance of students in all schools, colleges, universities and other educational institutions from April 17.
