Ramdev’s company Ruchi Soya to start planting palm oil in Northeast

Ruchi Soya, sponsored by yoga teacher Baba Ramdev’s Patanjali organisation, aims to grow palm oil in Assam, Tripura, and other Northeastern states.

The oil processor, which was taken over by the Patanjali group two years ago after it went bankrupt, has already conducted field surveys for palm oil plantations that would be established under contracts that guarantee farmers a buy-back by Ruchi Soya’s processing factories in those states.

“We plan to set up palm oil plantations in the Northeast. We have completed our survey there. We have plans for Assam, Tripura, Meghalaya, Manipur, among others”, said Baba Ramdev in an interview with PTI.
