With the third wave of COVID-19 hitting Tripura and the rest of the country, the state government has introduced and imposed additional restrictions. From Thursday, all multiplexes, shopping malls, cinema halls, entertainment parks, picnic spots, and exhibitions in Tripura will be closed.

The decision was made by the Tripura government in response to a rapid increase in COVID-19 cases in the state. State minister Sushanta Chowdhury informed the Tripura government of its decision to impose additional restrictions on Wednesday.

Tripura’s night curfew has also been extended until January 31 from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following day. Furthermore, attendance in Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) offices has been reduced to 50%.

Tripura has recorded over 8000 cases and at least 14 COVID-19 deaths in the last 10 days. However, no Omicron cases have been found in Tripura so far, according to Chowdhury.
