Due to the increase of Omicron cases in the country, the Tripura government has re-imposed tight restrictions in order to limit the spread of COVID-19 infection in the state.

Following the passage of seven directions, Chief Secretary Kumar Alok convened a high-level meeting at the Civil Secretariat.

The meeting determined that wearing masks or face coverings is required in public places, congested locations, markets, all workplaces and offices, and while travelling.

If a violation is discovered, the District Magistrate and Collectors, the State Police Services (SPS), the Commissioner, and the Heads of Departments have the authority to take action. The Health Department, DM and Collectors, AAI, NF Railway, and BSF will make this happen as soon as possible.

The list of passengers arriving from high-risk countries should be shared with police headquarters and all Superintendents of Police in order for police and health teams to strictly monitor their mandatory home quarantine.

The meeting also resolved that the Health Department will increase the degree of testing by activating additional teams, with a focus on strict sample testing at entrance points such as airports, all railway stations, and the Churaibari inter-state border.

“Authorities of the BSF, CRPF, Assam Rifles, CISF, and other paramilitary forces shall also guarantee strict compliance with sample testing of persons arriving from outside the state,” the meeting agreed.

Defaulters may face fines if they do not use masks or keep CAB beyond December 31, 2021.The fresh restrictions came into force on December 31, 2021, and will continue to be in effect till further orders. So far, Tripura has not reported any Omicron case.
