Normal life was damaged in Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council areas after Tripura People’s Front (TRF) called a 12-hour bandh on Wednesday.
Due to the recent killing of a fireman in mob violence in Tripura’s Panisagar sub-division, TRF called the bandh in support of the deceased Biswajit Debbarma.
The national highways and rail routes were blocked by TPF workers in different locations within the autonomous council area, resulting in cancellation of all trains from Agartala on Wednesday morning.
A mob attacked the victim on 21st of November, while a Joint Movement Committee (JMC) member was killed in a firing by Tripura State Rifles jawans, who tried to hold agitators from blocking the national highway in Panisagar.
Thirty five people were also injured in the incident.
A magisterial inquiry is being ordered by the state government into the incident.
