Tripura : Class 10, 12 board exams in select subjects

Due to corona virus, it is not possible to conduct examination of all the subjects of secondary and higher secondary schools in the state, informed Tripura education minister Ratan Lal Nath.

The Tripura Board of Secondary Education (TBSE) will issue a notice and conduct the examination within 15 days, only if situation gets normal in the state.

Nath said, “It is not possible to take the board exams in this situation. Therefore, the Central board had decided to cancel the secondary examinations. Students are victims of the same situation in Tripura. Examiners are spending their days in deep uncertainty since the Tripura government has not yet canceled the board-run secondary and higher secondary examinations”.

Previously, the Tripura government postponed both Secondary and Higher Secondary Board examinations on May 1, due to COVID-19. The examinations were scheduled to begin from May 18 and 19 for Classes 10 and 12, respectively.

Recently, a meeting was held by the Union education minister along with defence minister and education ministers of all the states, informed Nath. “The corona situation was reviewed. In the meeting, the Tripura government also gave its opinion before the central board,” he added.

“The exams for the secondary and higher secondary schools will not be conducted in all subjects, but in certain papers. A decision has already been taken in this regard. The details and the subjects will be announced shortly,” Nath added.

He said that administration is ready with the question paper. “There are even test centers. All preparations have been made, the board is waiting for the situation to return to normalcy,” he said.
