Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb tried to reallocate attention from the failure of his government by trying to draw people’s mandate through a public meeting, said CPI (M) Tripura secretary Gautam Das.
Das said, “The chief minister seeking the people’s mandate is nothing more than a drama to divert attention from the failure of his government”.
“While many people of Tripura are starving, the present government is engaged in a struggle for power,” he said.
The Chief Minister of Tripura had ask for public opinion if he should continue as CM in a meeting that will be organized on December 13 in Agaratala.
After few BJP MLAs demanded change in state leadership, the CM looked for public opinion in his defense.
When BJP state in-change, Vinod Sonkar’s visit the state recently, the MLAs shouted slogans, “Biplab hatao, BJP bachao”.
BJP chief JP Nadda requested Biplab Kumar Deb to continue as the chief minister while he would try to solve the crisis within the Tripura BJP unit.
“It’s unbecoming of the chief minister to seek public opinion in this manner”, said BJP ally IPFT supremo and state revenue minister, NC Debbarma.
Debbarma said, “Any dispute he with the legislators of his party should have been solved internally and he should not have dragged the state government into it”.
Pijush Biswas, Tripura Pradesh Congress president said, “The chief minister along with his cabinet ministers should resign and fresh polls should be held if he actually wanted to know the public opinion”.
