To discuss about the current agitation raised by sacked teachers in the State, CM Biplab Deb was met by a five-member Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) delegation led by former Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar.
The State Government was demanded by the Manik Sarkar-led CPI-M delegation to look after the ongoing agitation by the sacked teachers and to resolve their grievances immediately.
The then Left Front Government created 13,000 posts to house the teachers after the Tripura High Court and the Supreme Court terminated the jobs of 10,323 government teachers in 2011, 2014 and 2017, said Manik Sarkar to the media after the meeting with Chief Minister Biplab Deb was over.
Manik Sarkar said, “The BJP while campaigning for the 2018 Assembly polls had promised to regularise the jobs of these sacked teachers if they come to power. But nothing has been done”.
The protests by the teachers in Tripura entered its 18th day on Thursday.
The teachers will continue their protest until the Government provides back their jobs.
