Tripura : Former CM calls BJP Govt in state ‘Jungle Raj’

The issue of attacks on leaders and workers of the opposition parties in the State was brought forward to Governor Ramesh Bais by MLAs of the CPI-M in Tripura, led by former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar on Monday.

Manik Sarkar called the BJP Government in Tripura as ‘Jungle Raj’, as he spoke to the media after meeting the Governor.

The Left Front MLAs informed the Governor about the present law and order in the State and asked him to take over the situation.

“Tripura has been handed over to miscreants,” said Manik Sarkar.

Manik Sarkar said, “Opposition parties are not being allowed to function independently. Even the offices of various opposition parties have been closed due to the terror of the ruling party. State president of the Congress party was attacked yesterday. The government is functioning with a fascist attitude.”

Around 17 to 18 opposition activists were killed after BJP took over, he further claimed.

“Hundreds of opposition activists have been attacked. Unclaimed bodies are being recovered later in different parts of the state almost every day. Police have failed to take any action,” alleged Manik Sarkar.
