Two Assistant Sub Inspectors (ASI) of Pitra Police Station went on an anti-alcohol drive in Pitra Bazar where they were assaulted, on Tuesday evening. However, the four miscreants were granted bail.

Police recognized them as Surajit Sarkar, Pradeep Das, Dilip Chakraborty and Tapas Das. It has been reported that, Surajit Sarkar is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) party.

The police took them to a Court in Udaipur in Gomti district where they were granted bail, on Wednesday.

The role of the police has been put into question following the incident, as per sources.
