Major Northeast politicians, including TIPRA Chairman Pradyot Debbarma and Congressman Gaurav Gogoi, have backed Indian pacer Mohammad Shami.
Following India’s devastating loss to Pakistan in the T20 World Cup, Indian pacer Mohammad Shami has been subjected to abuse on social media.
On Sunday evening, Pakistan defeated India by 10 wickets in their ICC T20 World Cup opener at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
Tripura royal scion and TIPRA chairman Pradyot Debbarma, on the other hand, said “We love you bhai – you are a champion and a patriot #Shami Forgive these Morons! India will bounce back and we will prevail as a TEAM.”
Gaurav Gogoi, an Assam Congress MP and the deputy leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha spoke out in support of Shami, “Mohammed Shami, don’t let the haters get to you. India is grateful for the hard work and dedication you exhibit when you represent the on the global cricket stage.”
The Indian cricket community, as well as several politicians, have come out in favor of Shami, reminding those who are criticizing him that he has served the country admirably for many years.
