This is one of the bitter truths about the industry. Sexualization of women is quite a fashion in the industry and happens in one out of every two movies. A survey revealed that 35% of female characters feature nudity.

After Germany and Australia, the Indian film industry comes on the third spot where actresses are presented with a sexy image. The trend of items songs in Bollywood is at par where the actress is objectified for various reasons.

Casting couch

Yes, that’s the reality of the industry. Every new actor and actress, once in their life has gone through the horrible casting couch experience. Many casting couch directors demand sexual favour from actors in return for big roles in the movies. Actors like Ranveer Singh, Ayushman Khurrana, Kangana Ranaut, Radhika Apte, Tisca Chopra, and Kalki Koechlin have shared their casting couch experiences. On the other hand, Aman Verma and Shakti Kapoor have been blamed for asking favours from newcomers.

Discrimination for skin tone

The industry always gives preference to actors and actresses with fair skin tones. Many actors like Konkana Sen, Manoj Bajpayee, Dhanush, Chitrangadha Singh, and Smita Patil have faced discrimination for darker skin tones.

Many actors including Kangana Ranaut have admitted that Bollywood is not a place for friendships. Every other person will befriend you for their own benefit and once they are done, they will kick your ass and throw you out of their life.

Flop actors are considered socially dead

The industry sees a flop actor as taboo. Almost everyone in the industry starts ignoring them and nobody wants to work with them. Even no production house wants to sign them. The veteran actress Nadira faced the same. She gave successful movies like ‘Shri 420’ and ‘Pakeeza’ but once her movies got a flop on box office, people started to ignore her. She was left alone and later died due to depression.

Poverty

In this shining and glittering industry, there have been many actors who gave successful movies in their era but after their career ended, they faced huge poverty. Some of them didn’t have money for their treatment while some spent their life alone. Actors like A.K. Hangel, Bhagwan Dada, Bharat Bhushan, Jagdish Mali, Parveen Babi, and Kadar Khan are some of the examples. Jagdish Mali was found begging on the streets while the dead body of Parveen Babi remained in her apartment for three days.

Depression, alcoholism, and mysterious deaths

Many actors and actresses of the industry have gone under depression and alcoholism while some died under mysterious circumstances. Parveen Bobby was one of the most successful actresses of her time who went into depression, abused drugs and alcohol, and died in very pathetic condition. On the other hand, Divya Bharti was one of the rising actresses of her time who died under mysterious circumstances which are still unknown.

Infidelity

Bollywood movies have many times promoted infidelity and cheating on partners but our favorite Bollywood stars are nowhere behind. Many superstars like Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra, Raj Kapoor, and Dilip Kumar have shamelessly cheated on their partners.
