Army chief General visits forward areas along LAC in Leh

To access the situation along Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Ladakh’s Leh, Indian Army chief General MM Naravane on Wednesday visited the forward areas.

The Army chief had a meet and greet session with 14 Corps, popularly known as Fire and Fury Corps on his one-day tour to Leh. The Rechin La mountain pass was also inspected by him. The visit came in the middle of Sino-India tensions.

In a state of combat readiness, around 50,000 troops of the Indian Army are deployed in various mountainous locations in eastern Ladakh in sub-zero temperatures. An equal amount of troops is reported to be deployed by China as well, according to officials.

To take stock of the ground situation in the region facing harsh winters, Gen Naravane reached Ladakh at 8:30 am on his one-day-long visit.

The commander of the Leh-based 14 Corps, Lieutenant General PGK Menon welcomed the Chief of Army Staff.

On the forward line of defenses at Rechin La, spot inspection of the state of the habitat of troops was undertaken by the Army Chief.

The formation’s efforts to make troops comfortable along the LAC were appreciated by him.
Naravane boosted the spirits of all ranks to continue working with the same zeal and enthusiasm. Cakes and Sweets were also distributed on the eve of Christmas.
