Farmers’ union call for Rail Roko today

Samyukta Kisan Morcha, an umbrella body of the farmer’s union, taking note of the high-level meeting of the BJP to resolve the farmer’s agitation, said that the government is trying hard to counter the farmer’s protest instead of working on resolving the issue.

“It is clear that instead of resolving the ongoing struggle (on farmers’ demand), the BJP is trying its best to counter and destroy it (protest).” said Darshan Pal, leader of the SKM ahead of the rail blockade program scheduled today.

As the crowds have started thinning at the Delhi border, the unions called for a four-hour rail blockade, “rail roko” program today. The program will start from 12pm to 4 pm. Authorities have deployed security in various places, specially in, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal.

Maharashtra’s Deputy CM, Ajit Pawar, responded to the issue stating that the central government should discuss the matter with the farmers and pay heed to it.
