Govt to address all problems, including possibility of price raise

In the monsoon session of Parliament, which begins on Monday, the stage is set for a showdown between the government and the opposition on topics such as gasoline price hikes, vaccination policy, and farm laws.

The administration has stated that it is willing to engage in any discourse. On the first day, the opposition intends to go on the offensive over the fuel price rise. Government officials have recommended that Prime Minister Narendra Modi inform floor leaders on India’s Covid management in a confidential meeting, according to two politicians. The plan was rejected by all opposition parties, who demanded a thorough parliamentary debate.

The meeting takes place against the backdrop of the pandemic’s second wave, which caused an acute oxygen shortage in vast sections of the country. While both the Treasury and Opposition benches will be looking for ways to corner each other, the recent assembly elections and the long-term aims of the 2024 general elections might add to the session’s underlying politics.
