Arvind Kejriwal, the national convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Delhi chief minister, will visit Uttarakhand on Monday for a one-day visit. The AAP said in a statement on Sunday that this will be Kejriwal’s sixth visit to Uttarakhand ahead of the upcoming assembly elections since last year.
According to Kejriwal’s schedule, he will arrive at Jolly Grant airport around 11:30 a.m. on Monday. According to news agency ANI, he will then travel to Bijapur Guest House, where he will hold a meeting with AAP officials.
According to the ANI report, Kejriwal will also speak at a public meeting at Parade Ground at 2 p.m.
If AAP is elected to power in Uttarakhand in the upcoming assembly elections, Kejriwal announced during his previous visit on December 14 that ₹1,000 will be deposited in the accounts of all women over the age of 18 every month.
He made the announcement during his fifth visit to Kumaon, which took him to the Kashipur area of US Nagar.
Pushkar Singh Dhami, the chief minister of Uttarakhand, is from US Nagar.
Other promises made by the party for the state include free pilgrimage services for residents, similar to what the AAP government in Delhi provides, employment in every household in the state (Har Ghar Rozgar), and a 5,000-rupee stipend for unemployed youths until they find work.
Kejriwal also stated that if his party is elected, he will create 1 lakh government jobs in the state within six months of taking office. He had previously visited the state on November 21, September 19, August 17, and July 11 of this year.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won 57 of the 70 seats in the 2017 assembly elections and formed the government under Trivendra Singh Rawat.
The AAP, which returned to power in Delhi in the 2020 assembly elections, has yet to establish a presence in the hill state and has been aggressively campaigning in Uttarakhand and neighbouring Uttar Pradesh, both of which are holding elections this year.
