TMC Chief and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee spoke to the families of the deceased in Sitalkuchi firing through a video conference today.

She was supposed to meet them but ECI has banned entry of political leaders to Cooch Behar district for 72 hours. Later talking to newspersons at Siliguri, Ms. Banerjee alleged that the CISF was not trained in crowd controlling.

Meanwhile, the BJP blamed the West Bengal Chief Minister for yesterday’s unfortunate incident. BJP leader Amit Malviya said that Ms. Banerjee told her party workers to gherao central security forces engaged in election duties.

The BJP alleged that yesterday’s incident was the result of her alleged provocative statement. Atleast 4 persons were killed at Sitalkuchi when CISF personnel had to fire in self defence and to control an unruly mob. The ECI has stopped voting at the 126 polling booth after the incident.
