Uttar Pradesh issued New Excise Policy to generate revenue for farmers

New Excise Policy

The government of Uttar Pradesh has announced a new excise policy for the fiscal year 2022-23 in order to help farmers earn more money from their crops. Sanjay Bhusa Reddy, Additional Chief Secretary Excise and Sugar Industry, told PTI on Saturday that the move is aimed at creating jobs and providing a market for farm produce, as well as attracting large-scale investors.

The price of liquor will not be increased under the new policy, but the licence fee will be increased by 7.5 percent, he said.

He claims that the decision will allow him to provide customers with high-quality liquor at reasonable prices.

According to the official, liquor produced in Uttar Pradesh will only be sold in glass bottles rather than tetra packs.

In the event that glass bottles are unavailable, he said tetra packs will be permitted.

Country liquor, foreign liquor, beer retail shops, model shops, and premium retail are all open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., as they were previously.

According to the official, the state was previously a buyer of liquor and beer, but it will now be developed as a producer. He stated that the liquor will be made from fruits grown in Uttar Pradesh, such as the Lucknow Dussehri mango.

Aside from that, the wheat and barley used in beer production will be sourced from within the state. Three locations, including Barabanki and Mirzapur, will produce beer. He also mentioned that an effort has been made to make liquor from paddy, maize, and potato.
