In a significant move at the 25th anniversary celebration of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), party founder Sharad Pawar announced the appointment of Supriya Sule and Praful Patel as working presidents. The event, held in Mumbai, witnessed the presence of Ajit Pawar, a prominent figure within the NCP.
The decision to appoint Supriya Sule, the daughter of Sharad Pawar, and Praful Patel as working presidents comes after Sharad Pawar’s recent offer to resign from the party’s presidency. Following his announcement, there were strong objections from party members and other political leaders, expressing their support for Pawar’s continued leadership.
A panel within the NCP was formed to discuss Pawar’s resignation offer, and on 5th May, they unanimously rejected his resignation, emphasizing their desire for him to remain as the party president.
Supriya Sule, known for her political acumen and experience, has been actively involved in NCP affairs for several years. Her appointment as a working president is expected to bring fresh perspectives and further strengthen the party’s leadership. Praful Patel, a seasoned politician and former Union Minister, brings extensive experience to his new role, contributing to the party’s vision and strategy.
The NCP, founded by Sharad Pawar and P A Sangma in 1999, has established itself as a prominent political force in Maharashtra and beyond. With the new appointments of Supriya Sule and Praful Patel, the party aims to consolidate its position and work towards its goals with renewed vigour under the guidance of Sharad Pawar’s leadership.
