PM Narendra Modi congratulated Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi on his inauguration as the state’s chief minister on Monday (September 20, 2021). PM Modi stated, “Will continue to cooperate with the Punjab government for the development of the Punjab people.”
Charanjit Singh Channi was sworn in as Punjab’s 16th Chief Minister. The swearing-in ceremony took place at 11 a.m. today in Chandigarh, a day after the Congress leadership announced his name for the state’s top job. Channi was the first Dalit in the state to be elected governor. In Punjabi, he took the oath.
At the ceremony, Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa and Brahm Mohindra were also sworn in as deputy chief ministers of Punjab. Sukhjinder Randhawa and Brahm Mohindra will be the two new Deputy Chief Ministers of Punjab, according to AICC Treasurer Pawan Kumar Bansal. The AICC Treasurer confirmed the names in a tweet and congratulated the two leaders on their elevation to Deputy Chief Ministers of Punjab.
