India Needs Harder Approach while dealing with China: Subramanian Swamy

Subramanian Swamy, a senior BJP leader and former Union Minister, urged the Indian government to take a tougher stance on Sino-Indian issues. Swamy specifically mentioned Chinese aggression in Arunachal Pradesh and Ladakh when speaking to the media.

Swamy also says in the statement that the Centre must be steadfast on the issue and that the Chinese occupiers along the LAC must be driven out. He also stated that he has discussed the matter with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and members of the Sangh Parivar.

On November 11, Swamy appeared in the Gauhati High Court in connection with a complaint filed against him in a Karimganj trial court in 2015 for allegedly making a hate speech. Subramanian Swamy, an eminent Assamese lawyer, is representing Bijan Mahajan in court.

The BJP leader has asked the Supreme Court to dismiss the case against him that was filed in the Karimganj court of Additional Judicial Magistrate. During a gathering in Guwahati in March 2015, he allegedly made some offensive remarks about the Ayodhya dispute.

After allegedly declaring at the gathering that mosques and churches are just buildings that can be demolished if necessary, a FIR was filed against Swamy.

During his stay in Guwahati, Swamy made the divisive remarks twice more. Several groups across the state burned effigies of the BJP’s national executive member in response to Swamy’s remarks. The police also filed a FIR against Swamy under IPC sections 120 (B) [criminal conspiracy] and 153 (A) [promoting hatred between different groups on religious grounds] after receiving a complaint from Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS).
