Top Lashkar-e-Taiba commander eliminated

Jammu and Kashmir’s Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbagh Singh on Monday said that a top Lashkar-e-Taiba commander from Pakistan and his associate were killed by security forces in an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rambagh area  of Srinagar.

According to security forces, Saifullah was involved in the Nowgam attack recently in which 2 CRPF personnel were martyred. He was also involved in the September 24 attack in Chadoora in which an ASI of CRPF lost his life. A cordon & search operation was launched jointly by the police force and CRPF in Rambagh area of Srinagar after receiving specific input. During the cordon off the terrorists that were hiding opened fire on the search team, forcing the security forces to retaliate which then led to an encounter.

Addressing a press conference, DGP said that so far 75 operations were conducted apart from one all were successfully done in which 180 militants were killed and 26 militants were rescued from clutches of militancy. This year eight encounters took place in the city in which 18 militants including a top Hizbul Mujahideen commander were killed, he added.
