Euro 2020 final: England loses to Italy by 3-2 in penalty knockout

Italy held the Euro Championship trophy after 53 years on 11 July(Sunday).

England was defeated by Italy by 3-2 during the penalty round in the Euro 2020 final at Wembley Stadium in London.

A penalty shootout was necessitated as the match maintained 1-1 after extra time as well.

Goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma took Italy to victory by saving two penalties in a row.

After 2006 FIFA World Cup, this is Italy’s first major international title win.

Euro Championship in 1968 was won by Italy last. The team however was the finalists in the year 2000 and 2012.
