Popular Kannada actor Puneeth Rajkumar died after suffering a massive heart attack on Friday morning. Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has reached Vikram Hospital in Bengaluru where Puneeth Rajkumar was admitted. Several ministers and former chief ministers are at the hospital. He was 46. He is survived by his wife and two daughters.
Puneeth Rajkumar, son of matinee idol the late Rajkumar and Parvathamma, was admitted to the hospital after he complained of chest pain. Soon after the news of Puneeth Rajkumar’s hospitalisation was made public, his fans gathered outside Vikram Hospital. Kannada actor Yash and several other celebrities are also at the hospital.
Power Star Puneeth had made a contribution of Rs 50 lakh towards the Karnataka CM Relief Fund last year to help the state in its fight against Covid-19.
He has acted in over 29 Kannada films as the male lead. He started his career as a child artist. He was born in Chennai to the matinee idol Rajkumar and Parvathamma Rajkumar. He is their fifth and youngest child.
Political and movie industry leaders including CM Basavaraj Bommai visited the hospital and paid their respects. Some business establishments in Bengaluru decided to voluntarily shut as a mark of respect to the actor. Police are making adequate security arrangements to ensure that no untoward incidents take place. When his father passed away in 2006 there was large scale violence in Bangalore and the state administration wants to ensure that there is no such untoward incident. The Karnataka government has reportedly alerted district commissioners and the police to tighten security.
