Sikkim : 24th Rodung Khim foundation day celebration

At Baiguney, West Sikkim, the 24th foundation day of Rodung Khim was celebrated, along with the annual general meeting of Akhil Kirat Rai Sangh (AKRS). The chief guest of the programme was Tourism Minister, B.S. Panth, and Chief Minister’s political Secretary, Jacob Khaling was the guest of honour. Associative of Rai community from parts of Sikkim also attended the programme, informed a press release.

Minister Panth requested everyone to live with communal harmony and said that Sikkim belongs to various communities, while addressing the programme. The incomplete infrastructural works of Mangkhims around the State will be done assured Chief Minister including the Rodung Khim at Baiguney, he said.

The work of Rodungk Khim will be included in the tourism mega project of the government, the minister assured. For the renovation of Parunghang (Shiva) Mandir on the premises of Rodung Khim, he made sure that financial assistance will be provided.

One should love their own community but should also respect other communities, said Khaling. Communal harmony is the best way to achieve overall development of the society, he said.

According to a release, the programme was also attended by associates from Bhutia, Tamang, Sherpa, Limboo and Gurung communities.
