Assam: Dead Child Wakes up Before Burial, Dies Later

In a shocking incident, a two-month-old baby was wrongly declared dead by a compounder of a tea garden hospital in Dibrugarh district. The Assam police later apprehended the faulty compounder.

The incident took place when the baby was taken to the hospital in Muttuck Tea Estate in Dibrugarh and since there was no Doctor or nurse available at the moment, the compounder attended to the two-month-old baby. The compounder, identified as Gautam Mitra, checked the child and declared him dead. The parents, who were workers at the tea-estate, brought the infant home and started preparing for the last rites.

While they were preparing for the burial, the woman noticed that the child started moving in her lap. Soon, the baby was taken back to the garden hospital from where he was shifted to Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) where he was declared brought dead on arrival.
