Assam Govt employees to get half day off to watch The Kashmir Files

Employees of the Assam government will be given a half-day off to watch the recently released film “The Kashmir Files.”

Assam’s chief minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, announced this on Tuesday evening.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has announced that state government employees will be able to take a half-day off to watch “The Kashmir Files.”

The film “The Kashmir Files” is based on the mass exodus of Kashmiri Pandits from the Kashmir Valley in the 1990s from what was then the state of Jammu and Kashmir.

“Glad to announce that our government employees will be entitled to half-day special leave to watch The Kashmir Files,” said Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma.

“They will only have to inform their superior officers and submit the tickets the next day,” he added.

Moreover, on Tuesday, the Assam chief minister and his cabinet colleagues attended a screening of the newly released film “The Kashmir Files” in Guwahati.

After seeing the film, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “The genocide of Kashmiri Pandits was a blot on humanity.”

“The genocide of Kashmiri Pandits and their exodus is a stain on humanity.” “I was moved by the heartbreaking depiction of their plight in The Kashmir Files, which I watched with my cabinet colleagues,” said Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the film as well.

PM Modi applauded the film’s creators for “bringing the truth in its true form.”

On the other hand, the BJP-ruled states of Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Karnataka, Tripura and Goa declared the film tax-free.
