Assam SI Scam: CID Arrests P.K Dutta’s close aide, recovers Over ₹ 24 Lac

In a recent development to the Assam Police Recruitment of Sub-Inspector (SI) Scam, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Assam Police on Wednesday evening arrested an individual identified as Jaydip Borooah in case no. 21/20. He has been admitted to GMCH since he had tested positive for the novel coronavirus after his arrest.

According to reports, a search was conducted in the rented house of Jaydip Borooah located in Nabagiri Path under Chandmari Police Station, where huge stashes of cash amounting to Rs. 24,88,300/ (twenty four Lac eighty eight thousand three hundred) has been recovered. The entire process of search and seizure has been videotaped and the cash was kept in a bag with the executive magistrate and others as witnesses. The accused was also produced before a court that allowed police remand of 5 days. 

The money that had been recovered is said to have been collected by the prime accuse, P.K Dutta from the candidates. He had handed over the bag containing cash to his employee, Jaydeep Borooah with instructions to conceal it. It is to be noted that, CID on Wednesday apprehended another close aid of P.K Dutta in relation to the SI Exam scam. The closed aid identified as Jitu Mikir was a GRP constable that has served P.K Dutta as SRP and has been his assistant even after his retirement.
