Pakistan based Terrorist group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) behind the killing of the three leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam. Claiming responsibility for the killings, the Resistance Front (TRF), in a message in English and Hindi on its social media account, threatened that the “crematoriums will get overbooked”. Inspector General of Police Vijay Kumar urged the protected people in the valley not to move around without their security details. The senior police official also added that the killings were being executed at Pakistan’s behest.
Three workers of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP’s) youth wing — Fida Hussain, Umer Hajam and Umer Rashid Beigh — were shot dead by terrorists in the YK Pora area of Kulgam district in south Kashmir on Thursday. The alleged shadow group of LeT, The Resistance Front (TRF), on Friday claimed responsibility for the killings.
“Three militants came in a local car belonging to a local militant identified as Altaf. Fida (Hussain) was with his two colleagues in a car and the militants fired indiscriminately on them from close range. They received grave injuries and succumbed on the way to the hospital,” Vijay Kumar, the inspector general of police, said. He also shared the names of the LeT militants who are suspected to be behind the killings, they are: Nisar Khanday; and one Abbas from Khudwani who was once associated with Hizbul Mujahideen, now with LeT and TRF. The involvement of a FT (foreign terrorist) has also surfaced in the attack.
In the wake of the attack, the IGP said, the security forces have launched combing operations in seven to eight places in south Kashmir and asserted that the security forces will neutralise them soon.
