After violent gangs opposed to the event attacked and vandalised their office in the capital Tbilisi, targeting activists and media, LGBT+ activists in Georgia cancelled off a pride march on July 5.
On June 29, activists began five days of LGBT+ Pride festivities and planned a “March for Dignity” in central Tbilisi on Monday, defying church and conservative protests that the event had no place in Georgia. Counter-protesters thwarted the march’s start on July 5.
LGBT+ activists released video evidence of protestors ascending their building to reach their balcony, where they tore down rainbow flags and entered the Tbilisi Pride office.
