Snapchat Bans President Donald Trump Permanently

Snapchat announced that it will permanently ban US President Donald Trump’s account from January 20. The Republican president is due to hand over to Democratic President-elect Joe Biden on Jan. 20.

According to Reuters, Snapchat had announced an indefinite suspension of the account following the violent unrest at the Capitol last week. The statement added, “in the interest of public safety, and based on his attempts to spread misinformation, hate speech, and incite violence.”

Earlier, YouTube, Twitter and Facebook also decided to boycott the outgoing President. “In light of concerns about the ongoing potential for violence, we removed new content uploaded to Donald J. Trump’s channel for violating our policies,” YouTube said in a statement. Trump’s channel has been “temporarily prevented from uploading new content for a minimum of 7 days,” the statement read.
